Perhaps one of the most iconic war photos is Joe Rosenthal’s iconic Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima 1945 photo. This photo is a rare oversize print that is 11.25” x 14.5” and is a stunning photo stamped and printed March 11, 1945 (silver gelatin single weight). The piece has a visible age old deep crease on the upper right of the image with some surface irragularities and nicks. Quite rare in this format and also marked and printed in the same year the piece was shot. This photo went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1945. Has original AP snipe in the back with various stamps and press room markings.
