Snake Shed Head Encapsulation (DM001) Signed Original Work
Snake Shed Head Encapsulation (DM001) Signed Original Work
The snake shed head encapsulations were an extension that grew out of regional folk lore where I grew up in south west Texas. My grandfather was Native American and on hot days would hang a dead rattle snake on a fence for rain. This indigenous practice along with the shocking shed discoveries I would find waking in the desert lead to this series of work.
This is one out of four different snake heads in the series. Last photo is picture of others in the group sold individually. More info about the artist is also on marianochavez.com
