This small light box is made by American Optical. I believe it is used to check lenses during the making and shaping process. The box has a toggle switch on the side and uses small candelabra type bulbs. Makes a nice night light or a small viewing instrument with a loupe armature attached. Beautiful wear to the wood with some natural character of age old use.
