1950's Ectron Electroshock Therapy Unit
Ectron was founded in England in 1950 by Dr Russell and pioneered the design and manufacture of Electroconvulsive Therapy apparatus . A reliable and easy to use device used to treat depression with shock treatment. This is a very early example of Dr Russell Shock Device and subsequent models (shown with meters) were used at St Audrey's hospital, Melton,UK to treat patients with mental health issues through electric shocks. Examples like this can be seen in the Felixstowe Museum UK.
Details: Unit measures 8" x 8" x 6"H
Dosage units are measured by removing and rotating pin set dial
Electrodes keep under lid grips hold the arms and electrode pads are held in acrylic compartments
Nice solid wood construction with finger joinery
simple and primitive instant ECT button operation
Unit is in very good condition but needs the UK power cord to fire it up
