Early Model C.1940 Rahm Instruments Electro-Shock ECT Unit
Early Model C.1940 Rahm Instruments Electro-Shock ECT Unit
A rare example of an early Rahm Instruments unit made for electro-shock treatment. I have been after a Rahm device for quite some years and all the models I have seen are later models. This unit is quite unique as it is very early and is serial # 47 ! It is in really good condition and does not come with the electrodes or the power cord, but I did rig up a plug to test and the unit powers up. When you move the dial the voltage meter moves. I also spent many hours and tracked down a photo of this unit in use at Belleview Hospital by Dr. Joseph Wortis and it cited in the 1941 article Psychological Treatment of Psychosis: Some Recent Developments 1941, but I need to gain access to the medical article to acquire the image—will post once I get it.
The condition is very good + and has normal light wear and distress as you would expect from a 1940’s unit. Unit closed in case measures: 13” x 10” x 6” H
*manikin head and electrodes not included
