HeartMate 3 Artificial Heart Pump Study Museum Library Collectible
HeartMate 3 Artificial Heart Pump Study Museum Library Collectible
I have been looking or a long time for the HeartMate III —an innovative device in the advancement of LVAD technology. The unit utilizes Mag Lev technology reducing stress and protecting blood as it flows through the pump. This has dramatically reduced complications. The unit / pump is a retired piece of equipment but serves as a great piece of engineering and study to add to ones heart device library.
Further overview below:
The HeartMate III Left Ventricular Assist Device is indicated for short- and long-term mechanical circulatory support (e.g., as bridge to transplant or myocardial recovery, or destination therapy) in patients with advanced refractory left ventricular heart failure. HeartMate 3 LVAD with Full MagLev™ Flow Technology delivers unprecedented* survival and safety outcomes as demonstrated in the MOMENTUM 3 Trial at 2 years
Full MagLev Flow Technology maintains gentle blood handling to minimize complications and hemocompatibility-related adverse events.
Fully levitated, self-centering rotor that does not require hydrodynamic or mechanical bearings
Large, consistent blood flow pathways to reduce shear stress3
Intrinsic pulsatility to reduce stasis and minimize thrombus
The HeartMate 3™ LVAD is the most advanced LVAD yet. It is an advancing technology using Full MagLev™ Flow Technology, which helps protect the blood as it flows through the pump.
Pump was tested (drive live was cut but connected with in line connectors) and seems to be working —got a ‘low flow read’ —seems to be unused / retired
