These unique German made glass eyes (C.1920) came from an ocularist collection. What is interesting to me about the pieces is that they were used to demonstrate various states of making a glass eye. In this case I was lucky to get two that seem to match with slightly varying irises. They both gently attach to the brass display and can be taken off if needed. On the display they act as disembodied eyes with a long ocular nerve. These pieces are mini sculptures and an elegant object that speaks of the craft and artistry that merges with science.
