1950's Martin Company NASA SCAPE Helmet

$0.00

A very early Self Contained Atmospheric Protection Ensemble or (SCAPE) helmet from The Martin Company. The Martin Company operated from 1957-1961 until it merged to become what is now Martin Marietta.

Martin Co working on aerospace and defense dates this helmet to the early Apollo era and was acquired in Cape Canaveral Florida so it is pretty likely was used in early NASA rocket development.

The helmet is tagged and serial numbered on the inside via a Martin Label. The helmet has been heavily used and has scuffs and a crack noted in the back that is stable and also a divit on the top of the piece. The back is initialed MR and has a stenciled number 58 on the sides.

I have carried SCAPE suits and RFCO suits in the past and this is definitely the oldest helmet of this type I have gotten so far.

Comes with cantilevered raw steel stand as pictured —hangs on the top helmet hook — these suites used to be stored in this way after use.

Look at my other listing for a RFCO helmet listed separetly
