Apollo Era NASA Space Shuttle Liquid Cooled and Ventilation Garment (LCVG)

Space Shuttle Liquid Cooled and Ventilation Garment (LCVG), affectionately known as the 'spaghetti suit,' featuring a network of water transport tubing interwoven within the zip-up full-body spandex suit. Looks like a network of nerves and arteries which run throughout the entire garment. ILC-Industries (ILC Dover) manufacturer's tags are sewn on the back of the collar, reading: Part # J100600-01 Serial #75-006 Size: Small Regular Code Ident 74897

Space Shuttle astronauts wore the LCVG as part of their EVA suit in order to maintain a comfortable body temperature during their spacewalks. Cold water circulated through the flexible tubing, drawing heat away from the astronaut's body. The water returned to the Primary Life Support System (PLSS), where it was cooled in a heat exchanger before being recirculated.

Piece is in very good condition with some staining on fabric that is age old. Zipper is in working condition and fiber is in good shape. Some bits of adhesive are loose that have dried over time but that is due to the age of the garment. Comes with wall display hanger which projects the piece off the wall in a float display as pictured in the last photo.
