Recently acquired and very hard to find the Vajen Bader is on the well seasoned collectors list. This striking leather helmet / hood is a very early breathing apparatus used by firefighters that allowed them to enter smoke filled buildings (c.1891-1901). The lenses are made of mica and have wiper pads that clear the vision with a twist of the dial. This piece is in very good condition. The leather is playable and has normal wear. It retains its original shape and has not been collapsed or crushed. Air tank and whistle are not included but can be located much easier than the center piece. This piece in the design realm is a blue print for many sci-fi movies and quite an inspiring object.
