Vault of the heavens large lucite globe (36” diameter) consist of a 6” earth at the center that is suspended on a shaft that can be controlled by a knob at the bottom. The universe sphere is printed with celestial bodies through and technical markings to set coordinates to the earth. A valuable tool that is often used in naval training to show how one can find positions using the stars.

This model is quite a rare sized one— mainly made for institutions like schools or government offices. Although some of the smaller sizes can be found locating a 36” globe is quite tough to find, especially this earlier 1963 model.

I had to locate some missing components for this globe to complete it and now it is restored . The acrylic base is an authentic Farquhar base for a medium globe but works well for this larger globe (as a static display)—this is the only part that slightly different than its intended base but I like that it is acrylic and matches the globe.

Some scuffs on the outer acrylic but typical with age and not distracting from the object. The acrylic sphere is in very good condition and can come apart in two halves if disassembly is needed. Some metal components have signs of oxidation and have been lightly oiled to condition the metal . Comes as shown.
