Early NASA SCAPE Helmet C.1966 from KSC Kennedy Space Center Marked and Numbered

$0.00

This early NASA helmet from Kennedy Space Center was part of a S.C.A.P.E Suit or Self-Contained Atmospheric Protection Ensemble suits, used for Space Shuttle rescue operations and any other event which calls for complete atmospheric isolation. The helmet is number 257, so it is a very early piece dating from at least 1966 if not earlier. The interior of the helmet has some wear but retains the head phone ear pieces and you can see a connection tube for the oxygen on the inside. There is a ‘NASA / KSC Property’ tag with serial # 152884 on the inside collar rim. Has nice age and color throughout and a stable crack on the left bottom edge—not distracting but worth noting. Comes on a cantilevered steel stand as shown hanging from the storage hook these had at the top of the helmet.

*I have also located a scape suit which is currently on way to the shop which should marry well with the helmet and is from the same era. Inquire about getting both as a set.
