Rare Earth Projector Globe C.1950-60's
I had a Spitz Planetarium Projector C.1968 that was used in a University and it was a giant unit that took up a whole dedicated room (see previous listing on website). The planetarium had many accessories— among them the earth projector that has a center core bulb that is half filled with a dark liquid so that as the bulb is lit it only projects that portion of the globe. All the continents are silhouetted and project onto the dome ceiling. Some of these earth projectors can be seen on early planetarium projectors C.1950’s employed these same models and only a limited were made. So to obtain this globe you would have to get it from a planetarium projector company like Spitz or Owen Phairis etc. You can take the globe off the display base and the connecting wires are visible. I have not tested it but I imagine you can rewire or put a bulb in the center bracket for a unique night light.
