Rare NASA Award 1964-66 Gemini / Titan II
Rare NASA Award 1964-66 Gemini / Titan II
Probably on of the most unique items we have come across. This historic award was issued during the time NASA was developing the manned space program. Focus had been set on getting a man on the moon. The Gemini project was NASA's second human spaceflight program. The Gemini spacecraft carried a two-astronaut crew. Ten Gemini crews flew low Earth orbit (LEO) missions during 1965 and 1966, putting the United States in the lead during the Cold War Space Race against the Soviet Union. The award is also for development in the Titan II which was an early ballistic that was later integrated as a launch vehicle for NASA. Quite a unique piece of history and design. Its like an early Oscar for the NASA recipient.
This piece is made of heavy cast aluminum and comes with the information on the placard. Quite unique and one of a kind historic piece of art. Measures 13.5" H
