Unique Alex McCool's NASA Award with Letter of Authenticity
Alex McCool was a big part or NASA and was instrumental in getting Saturn V rockets launched in the first big steps to get to the moon. Throughout his career as Manager of Space Shuttle Projects he was awarded many honors. This particular award was acquired from his estate directly from his grandson. His grandson said this special award was given by NASA as a ‘pat yourself on the back’ award for outstanding achievement.
The custom made award which consists of a glove attached to a pole allowed one to ‘pat’ the back. This was in McCool’s collection until his death. The award would look nicely mounted on the wall with a broom hanger clip for quick release to pat the back—truly a one of a kind piece. The award also comes with a letter of authenticity written by Alex McCool’s grandson Daniel Cooper.
