Vintage NASA Space Suit TMG Glove with Custom Stand
Vintage NASA Space Suit TMG Glove with Custom Stand
This right hand astronaut TMG glove assembly is one component of the extravehicular spacesuit that astronauts use to perform spacewalks from the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. The Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) consists of two major systems: The Space Suit Assembly (SSA) and the Life Support System (LSS). Unlike previous generations of spacesuits, the SSA is not custom made for individual astronauts, but consists of interchangeable and reusable components that each astronaut chooses to fit his or her body.
This component is the Thermal Micrometeoroid Garment (TMG) Glove Assembly. The TMG provides protection against micrometeoroids and the wide variations of temperatures when the astronaut is working in open space.
The glove was retired due to age and was acquired from Johnson Space Center (JSC) with two original clear bags that the item was packaged in, deaccession tag, serial numbers, and various other NASA identifiers.
Some photos of the glove are shown inside out to show ILC Dover tags—two if which one has the size / year and serial number (March 2000). ILC is the manufacturing facility that assembles these high tech materials that are used to make the space suit. You can see the small astronaut logo on the tag. See also the meticulous thermal layers of construction that go into the piece.
Comes with custom steel stand . Measures 17” H with a 6” x 6” base
NOTE—items pictured in the first picture are sold separately and do not come with the glove.
