Black and White Relief Print Series Final Suite Selection
Black and White Relief Print Series Final Suite Selection
These relief prints were made about 20 years ago. The way they came about is a friend had found a series of industrial heavy gauge brass plates with interesting patterns on them. He thought I would be able to use them to make furniture with them. The markings were supposedly stylus guides of some sort to cut out shapes for industrial use. I thought that these would look great as relief prints because the patterns were so random and interesting on their own.
I took about 20 plates and rolled them up with an oil based ink. Once the plates were evenly oiled I ran each one under high pressure on the press and transferred the image to the paper. The deep embossment on the plate leaves the white areas raised up and provides an interesting dimensional texture (see image of back of paper). Each measures about 22” x 30” and are run on Rives cotton paper .
I made 3 editions and this is the last of the editions .
Priced per print .
