These lush colored decollages consist of sheets that are hand colored and printed. Very subtle golden Caligula heads are recessed against the silver background. Skeletal leaves are printed in between the heads that form a repeating pattern lead the eye to the row of heads. The subsequent layers consist of Paynes gray owls and leaves printed on a rich pyrole red. A few areas of insects peek out in select areas to add contrast against a carbon black sheet with leaf patterns in green and white. The process involves individual customized motifs— once printed and dried the sheets are hand torn to show the layers below. The piece is then glued together to create a unique image akin to layered movie paste up posters or unearthed wall paper. Printed on heavy weight drawing paper and signed in the lower right in pencil by the artist. Measures: 42.5” x 52.5”
