This large woodcut measuring eight feet in length (or height depending how you frame it) is quite stunning. Tyler worked on this piece long ago and he was telling me that while he was invited to several universities for printing projects, one in particular destroyed the wood block. The piece was carved on a giant board and before the steam roller incident managed to get two prints—hand burnished and printed, which, we have both! The other wood blocks were printed using a steam roller going over the block as a feel good gimmick some people use to print large work, but destroyed the wood in the process. So great to have these two unique minimal snakes titled ‘counter culture’ in the studio. Piece is signed in pencil and measures: 37” x 96” on Japanese Kitakata paper.
